The print bulletin isn't dead.
wrong.
WE'VE JUST BEEN USING IT
And that's not your fault. You just inherited the template (which has been copied over every week since 2004) and have been racing to meet submission deadlines ever since.

Because let me guess, your current "process" is:

-
Try to fix terrible graphics people send you that don't match parish branding
-
Field grumpy phone calls from ministry leads about why their group wasn't included this week
-
Attempt not to cry as boxes of bulletins get thrown out weekly (amidst choruses of parishioners complaining they "didn't know" about that event)
-
And play the fun game of "rework the entire bulletin to squeeze in that last-minute submission" every single week

The worst part? You spend HOURS on the bulletin...and then no one even takes it.
So you kind of wonder, is the print bulletin dead?

It isn't. But the way we've been using it has.

We have the opportunity to hand every person who attends Mass at our church the most valuable communication tool we have — and we've been wasting it on all the wrong things (which is why no one takes it, and it takes you so long to make).

This summer, join me as we rethink, refresh, and redesign your bulletin AND creation process so it actually has a goal, parishioners read it, and it becomes way less time-consuming and "sanctifying" to make.

Let me help you make a bulletin
that gets parishioners to come to events.
(And that you don't dread making)
We're going to start by figuring out your bulletin's unique audience, goals, and layout — because no, bulletins aren't one size fits all.

Then, we're going to go piece by piece through your current bulletin, evaluating each item and how we can adjust it to meet that goal (or if it needs to be removed entirely).

Next, we'll redesign the bulletin from a place of strategy, creating a clear, compelling publication — even if you're not a trained graphic designer.

After that, we'll set up sanity-saving systems so creating it happens almost on auto-pilot.
And finally, we'll set up your email newsletter so it complements, not competes with, your print bulletin.

Through it all, I'll be right there with you, walking you through it step-by-step (along with other bulletin editors doing it right alongside you).

The result?
Ushers are scrambling to find enough bulletins because everyone's taking them.
People are reading them, learning more about each other, and actually showing up to events.

Making the bulletin no longer stresses you out.

And most importantly? The bulletin is drawing parishioners closer to Christ and your church.

Here's what your bulletin is capable of
(When you plan it like this)
Helping parishioners get to know one another deeper and build community
And go from strangers who passively sit next to each other on Sundays to "parish family"

Instilling pride and ownership in being part of the parish
To illicit "That's MY church!" feelings...which is what drives them to volunteer, donate, and share your church with others

Gets them to be more active in the parish
Because they actually know what's going on and you're promoting your programs in a way that appeals to them

Getting visitors and new parishioners into parish life
By using it as a strategic promotional piece used to naturally guide them into the next steps

Drawing parishioners more deeply into their faith and closer to Jesus
Because it is a spiritually-focused publication, not a bland bulletin board

Your bulletin is about to be the talk of the
deanery meeting.
Where everyone will ask you, "I love your bulletin! How did you do that?!"
Let's refresh your bulletin in
5 weeks.
We have five weeks to overhaul your bulletin. Here's how we're going to do it:

STEP ONE:
Start with a bulletin strategy
so you have a clear purpose, audience, and goal for each issue.

STEP TWO:
Refresh your bulletin's design and layout
with a focus on clarity, intrigue, and making sure the most important information gets seen.

STEP THREE:
Set up systems and submission policies
you'll use every week so it takes you less time to make and is easier to manage.

STEP FOUR:
Enhance your digital bulletin (newsletter)
to complement your print bulletin and get people to take action.

STEP FIVE:
Come up with a distribution plan
so people actually take and look forward to reading the bulletin.
Here's the full breakdown of everything we'll be covering:
The result? A bulletin people actually take, read, and do what it says...and that you don't hate making.

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR
Former parish worker + Catholic marketer

(Me in college spending my Saturday working on a 32-page thesis on Luke's Last Supper account. Yes, those are nine Biblical commentaries stacked on top of each other Yes, I loved every minute. No, shockingly I was not invited to many parties.)

In my past life, I was a bulletin editor at two different parishes.

At the first parish, it would take me HOURS every week to make the bulletin. And frankly, it was kind of ugly.

At the second parish, it was a larger bilingual bulletin, so much more thoughtfully designed, and was way more effective.

What's shocking? It took me LESS time to make the better bulletin.

And the difference came down to a few things: Having a strategy, giving the design a facelift, and having really clear policies for submission guidelines.
Trust me - I know the crushing feeling watching boxes of bulletins being thrown out each week.

But I also know the absolute joy when someone reads something you wrote in the bulletin and it changes their life (even bringing people back to the church simply from a letter in the bulletin!).

I want to teach you how to make a bulletin that changes hearts for Jesus.

And maybe doesn't make you regret joining the parish staff.

So what can you expect from this bootcamp? Lots of nerdiness and lots of realness from someone who gets it and wishes I'd had this when I was smashing the submit button 13 seconds before the deadline every week.
